Trend Alert: Light Denims
If you’re one of the few people who haven’t gone off on holiday this month, you’ll know that the heat is driving us all crazy. And while we sweat out copious amounts of fluid, the city makes us aware each time we step out in teeny-tiny shorts. Plus, let’s face it, it isn’t very professional – unless you’re a stylist or have your own fashion company. So what do you do when you have a long commute to work every day? Sweat it out in your jeans, of course. But, trust me, you don’t have to! When I noticed how hard it was to be travelling around in the city yet be on trend, I devised the most simple solution ever – the light denim.
Yes, this is one of 2016’s hottest trends and completely suitable to wear in our muggy, sweaty city. Light denims are nothing but jean materials in a (much) lighter avatar that you can use every day and yet not die of heat. Whether it’s jumpsuits, playsuits, skirts, dresses, shirts or even pants, this new style will help you both look fashionable and feel comfortable. So, without further ado, I present to you the light denim.
Light denim shirts
Denim on denim has been trending for a while now and you can do this with aplomb by investing in some chambray shirts and even tees. Not only is the material lighter and more breathable but you can pair it with fun coloured bottoms to give a cool, summer look. In recent times, we’ve spotted everyone from Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra to youngsters Jackqueline Fernandez and Athiya Shetty sporting this look.
Light denim dresses and skirts
If you don’t want to bother with the pants this season, we wouldn’t blame you – look stylish by picking light denim skirts and dresses instead. Pair it with tan accessories and chunky jewellery to get a sleek, dressy look – just like Twinkle Khanna and Bhavna Pandey have done.
Light denim jumpsuits and playsuits
If you want to take your style quotient a notch higher, go in for a denim jumpsuit or playsuit. You can pick loose-fit or body-hugging ones depending on your comfort level – but make sure the material is light and the outfit is not made with traditional jean material. Style with a tan belt, shoes or bag to keep the look on-point. Here are a few ones we loved.
