This tool training session is free for all the active members of Maker’s Asylum. No need to register just show up.
Fee for non-members: Rs. 1700/- (Inclusive of taxes) per attendee.
This training session will get you started with both Laser Cutter and 3D Printer.
1. Laser Cutter
The laser cutter is the most flexible and accessible rapid prototyping tool in any shop. This 2-hour training class will cover the basics on how laser cutters work and review full operating procedures for the Asylum’s powerful laser cutter. Every participant will get to create a small item as part of the class! Testing will be required before participants are signed off to use the tool independently as members.
3D Printer This hands on tools training session will train students on how to use the 3D printer safely and effectively, running through using the 3D model compiler, printing parts, changing materials in and out of the material loading bays, and properly disposing of all materials after the print. This class does not provide training in 3D modelling software required to generate the STL files the 3D printer uses. Participants get 2 hours worth of free printing time on the 3D printing machine at the Asylum.
Things you’ll learn:
• Working of the 3D printer
• Various methods of 3D printing. (SLS, SLA, FDM)
• Setting up the machine
• Insight on the software and websites used to make 3D models (Will not be going into details of CAD)
• Experience making your designs ready for the printer (MakerBot Desktop)
Participants must be above 18 years of age.
All materials required for the tool training will be provided to the participants.
