Celebrating the genius of Sahir Ludhyanvi with Mohammed Vakil & group
Concept & Compere: Suhail Akhtar Warsi
This thematic presentation has been designed to enable uninitiated listeners to enjoy and appreciate the rich raga legacy of Hindustani music by associating a particular raga with a corresponding raga-based film song.
The song-selection is based on the evergreen poetry of legendary poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhyanvi (1921-1980), set to haunting music by directors who had a penchant for classical music.
Born in a family of ghazal singers, Mohammed Vakil made his stage debut at the tender age of nine. Having trained with his uncles, the well-known pair of ghazal singers, Hussain brothers; Vakil went on to win 1998 Sa Re Ga Ma Mega final.
He specializes in singing ghazals, and has performed with many renowned singers of Bollywood and lent his voice in films like Veer Zara.
