Colaba and the Bombay Plague of 1896: A walking tour led by Shriti Tyagi

Visit sites relating to the outbreak of Plague in Bombay in 1896. Shriti Tyagi of Beyond Bombay leads walkers to key former and current landmarks associated with the devastating epidemic. An account of their role will be woven into an intriguing patchwork of stories of those who survived or perished, along with legends of local doctors and heroes who worked tirelessly to heal the sick.

Shriti Tyagi is a fiction writer, playwright, translator, and an entrepreneur. An alumnus of Sophia College, Mumbai, and SIMC, Pune, Shriti discovered her love for theatre, research and writing early on in her career. In 2006, Shriti was won the Katha Translator of the year award. Her journey across cinema, writing, art and research culminated eight years ago into Beyond Bombay & Beyond Delhi – niche travel collectives that run concept-based walks, engaging people with the past and present of the cities they call home.
